Hello everyone and welcome to the website of our artisanal chocolate shop: La Casa del Cacao!

We are Cédric Begein and Cristina Dolmos, chocolate maker based in San José, in the heart of the Costa Rican capital.

Together, we work to offer you a gastronomy between pleasure and respect for organic cocoa production. Our job is much more than a job, it’s a passion that has driven us for almost 10 years. What makes us get up in the morning is this desire to be able to present our customers with the best possible chocolate !

A place for young and old; a chocolate paradise in the heart of the capital !

 

Since 2016, in the vibrant heart of San José, Costa Rica, we have transformed our love for chocolate into a true human adventure. Our artisanal workshop in the Steinvorth building in the city center has become an essential meeting place for lovers of organic and authentic chocolate. Our mission is simple: to introduce the world to the rich and complex history of cocoa in Costa Rica, while offering a unique chocolate-making experience through our workshops.

In our boutique, we have been sharing this passion with our visitors and tourists from around the world for almost a decade. What sets us apart is our commitment to quality and authenticity. Each ingredient is carefully selected and comes from organic farming, in order to respect nature and with the aim of offering a chocolate of excellent quality and for all tastes (find here the products that we sell on site at La Casa Del Cacao!)

Open and smiling, we welcome each visitor as a long-time friend, taking the time to share our knowledge and answer questions! Each meeting is a new opportunity to transmit our love for chocolate. Our workshops are also a time of sharing and meeting. Our chocolate: Costa Rican beans from sustainable, organic and fair trade agriculture 

 

We work with national fincas that cultivate cocoa in the traditional and most environmentally friendly way possible. This allows us to effectively trace our products and guarantee their quality at all stages of production, because the families that supply us with cocoa work with respect for the environment and, in exchange, receive fair and equitable compensation.

Currently, all cocoa beans are produced in the province of LimĂłn, specifically in the regions of Cahuita and SarapiquĂ­.

Discovering the products at La Casa Del Cacao means choosing a chocolate that combines traditional techniques and beans from local organic farming. We support small-scale farming and respect the origin of our products.
